• this (singular, cerca): this book = este libro

• that (singular, lejos): that chair = esa silla

Objetos:

• What’s this? — ¿Qué es esto? (lo tengo en la mano)

• What’s that? — ¿Qué es eso? (está más lejos)

• These shoes are new. — Estos zapatos son nuevos.

• Those mountains are beautiful. — Esas/Aquellas montañas son hermosas.

Personas:

• This is my friend Ana. — Esta es mi amiga Ana (a mi lado).

• Who is that man? — ¿Quién es ese hombre? (allá).

Tiempo / ideas:

• This morning (esta mañana, la actual).

• That day (ese día, pasado/lejano en el tiempo).

• I like this idea. (esta idea, la que acabamos de mencionar).

Incontables (sin plural):

• This milk is fresh. — Esta leche está fresca.
  (Con incontables usa singular: this/that, no “these milks”).

3) Con sustantivo vs. pronombre

• Con sustantivo: this pen, those kids.

• Como pronombre (sin sustantivo): What’s this? / I’ll take these. / I don’t like those.

4) Pronunciación (truco rápido)

TH suena /ð/ (vibrando): this, that, these, those.
Coloca la punta de la lengua entre los dientes y vibra (como en “the”).

• this /ðɪs/

• that /ðæt/

• these /ðiːz/

• those /ðoʊz/

5) Gestos para enseñar en clase

• Señala algo muy cerca de ti → this / these.

• Señala algo más lejos → that / those.

• Abre la mano para contar plural cuando digas these/those.

6) Errores comunes (y cómo evitarlos)

1. ❌ this cars → ✅ these cars (plural con these/those).

2. ❌ that books → ✅ those books.

3. ❌ these ones en inglés formal escrito → mejor these (aunque en conversación se oye).

4. Con incontables: ❌ these water → ✅ this water.
